Overview
Once again we start with the serene opening of Nature. Cool water, showering the plant life. But the real reason we are here is next.
BNSF 5340 is coming! The best part of the video is the engines going over the "Speed Bump". I assume because they are shorter than the cars. It's probably the spot where they don't tell the new guy to hold on to his coffee cup. Sorry New guy.
crossing pad
I worked for the LIRR and I saw were the plow on the engine hit the rubber pad on the crossing. What happens mud mixes in with the ballast and the track sinks so they have to remove the rail dig out the mud and old ballast. What they do now is put a heavy cloth down before they put the ballast down to keep the dirt from mixing with the ballast and this will last about 15 years. The cloth goes about 40' on each side of the crossing pads.
