Overview	The history of the Garratt locomotive goes back to 1907 when William Garratt patented his articulated locomotive design. The 4-8-4 + 4-8-4 weighed in at over 260 tons with over 63,000 pounds of tractive effort. There are 4, 1:1 scale engines left in museums in Australia. The Australian Railway Historical Society in Canberra is in the process of restoring engine 6029.
