Overview
This video isn't really about building a G scale trestle. But it does show how to put bents together from a pre-made jig.
There are enough shots of the jig to allow you to see how it was put together.
Search the LSOL library for "bents" and you will get some great information from our member's articles.
trestle bent
1:It would have been nice to know whatthe dinensions of the wood pieces are - I noted that he had to flip the wood pieces around to FIT into the jig at times ..
2: in dealing with the cutoffs at the end of the demo., he went waaaaay too fast to show HOW this was cut AND never showed how the top board is going to be attached .
3: there was no instruction as to HOW to make the jig either .... he borrowed it from somoeone - wonderful - I dont have anyone to borrow that from .

trestle
I agree with Carl on all of the above. It seems a great way and a fast way of making Trestles

trestle jig
i agree with carl too ..plus if he were to cut the tops off the way he talking about the table saw would just catch each bent top and break them off instead of cutting them off ..first you have to nail the bent tops and bottoms on first then use the table saw to cut the tops off and dimensions of the jig would of been great to have ...i beleve the wood strips are 1/2 square for most g scale bents ..you can also use round dowels for the main bents too......

Chris,
How do you make your jig in the first place? I'd like to see the video on that too.
Thank you,
Jeff

trestle/ jig
My suggestion too, after thinking about this, is how about a " how to" as far as the " pre-made" jig is concerned.. After the thing is made up, I think a 4th grader could put the sticks in place and slap a little glue on them... NIce to have to video on that but, I would think it would be more constructive to garden railroaders who want a trestle, to see how to make the jig.
