When you set up a temporary track you may not expect it to become a full fledged Garden Railway. 11 years ago that's what they thought at the Charnwood Forest Railway. Watch what the temporary layout turned into.

Overview

When the Charnwood Forest Railway (CFR) started in 2000 for a "Day out with Thomas" event the small oval of track setup was only temporary. The CFR was such a hit, it stayed down for another few months and was extended a bit more.

Since then passing loops and sidings have been added. By 2006, the railway had a double track main line, sheds, station bays and a rack railway.

11 years later they seem to be a little bit more than "Temporary".
