Overview
They love trains at Bekonscot. That's why they have been running the UK's finest public model garden railway for over 80 years. There are almost 10 scale miles of realistically signaled main line, branches and sidings, with up to eleven passenger and freight trains crisscrossing the landscape, travelling under your feet or running right in front of you.

The railway was built as an original feature of the private model village in 1929, under the direction of world-famous model railway company Bassett-Lowke. The railway was originally built with entirely Bassett-Lowke parts and stock. The trains are 1:32 scale, rather than the rest of the village, which is at 1:12 and 1:15 scale.

In addition to the model railway, the park also has a Light Railway, gardens, remote controlled boats and a playground.

A great work of art. I remember visiting some model villages when I lived in England back in the 60's. Unsure if this was one of them. It sure would be nice to check it out for real.

I believe we have a similar model railway in Australia. This is in Canberra and was modelled using Bekenscot as a model (no pun intended)

Thanks for bringing it to our attention Peter.
