Overview |
Although larger concrete viaducts and steel cantilever bridges were
constructed before and after Gokteik, no other conventional box tower
and girder type steel trestle has ever exceeded it in size except for
the monstrous Lethbridge Viaduct in Alberta, Canada which is about the
same in height but more than twice the length.
Look at the rest of the pictures by going to the full story. I'm not sure if I could hold my breath that long.
Maybe this could be your next project?

NO THANKS, the Knox & Kane in PA (which was a wooden trestle that spanned an entire mountain range was enough... It stood the test of time for almost 100 years, but succumbed several years ago I think because of a hurricane? Someone can correct me IF I'm wrong on that? |

Knox, Kane Kinzua |
The Knox&Kane was a tourist road, and previously part of the BRP/B&O/Erie. It crossed the Kinzua Bridge near Mt. Jewett PA. The bridge was steel, @301'high and @1/2 mile long. It came down while under repair/restoration when hit by a tornado. Google "Kinzua Bridge" , "Kinzua Viaduct" lots of info. Ed Halo |
