The PCC (Presidents' Conference Committee) streetcar design was first built in the U.S.in the 1930s. The design proved successful and after World War II was licensed for use elsewhere in the world. The PCC car has proved to be a long-lasting icon of streetcar design, and PCC cars are still in service in various places around the world.

The Red-White-Blue model is tempting at $125.00.

The number of roadnames offered is very limited considering the many cities which operated PCCs. I rode on PCCs in Dallas with my mother when I was just knee high to a Texas grasshopper. I won't purchase a PCC just because it is on sale.

Item: As far as I can determine, Dallas hasn't been included in the smaller scales from manufacturers who have PCCs in their product lines either.

A modern generic scheme based on the neat Trinity Railway Express would be very tempting of course! The destination sign should display FAIR PARK, home of the State Fair of Texas.

PCCs
I had to get the 2 Pittsburgh PCCs when they came out. I especially had to get the Spirit of 1776, since it was on my scratch-build project list. The railroad I started out to model, the Pittsburgh and Castle Shannon Railroad, eventually became the streetcar line through Overbrook and Shannon, where these cars ran. If I had known that Spirit of 1776 would be on scale, I wouldn't have paid so much for her at the ECLSTS when she was the show "engine". But I am happy with both of them, and having them play tag back and fourth across my backyard is just so neat.

I did have to get one of them, now that they are on sale, for a kit-bash idea I have. Yup, another project on the "to do" list.
