Lewis Polk: Seminar on Growing the Hobby
Jun 15, 2012

By Peter De Keles
Author  Bio
At this year's East Coast Large Scale Train Show, Louis Polk shared his ideas on how we could each play a part in expanding our hobby. Watch this exclusive video and hear what Louis thinks you can do.

Louis Polk sat down at the East Coast Large Scale Train Show this year and talked about what you as individuals can do to spread the word about Garden Railroading.

He knows he's "preaching to the choir" during this seminar but he is giving his ideas on how we can approach new people to get them interested in the hobby.

Very nice to see him again in person. His concept is very doeable, as I have done the same thing in the past for 10 years, and I agree it introduces many people into the G-gauge hobby, as well as enjoying the concept of trains running in your garden. I was also glad to see He had become a Grandfather, and that he is moving to our fair state... Welcome Mr. Polk to the great state of Florida... Elaine

on growing in the hobby
spreading the word about this hobby is getting more and more difficult as the price of things keep going up. I have a 14 year old student who loves the trains and I even gave one of my trains to him just to help get him started - but how can we compete with money issues for trains when the money just aint there.... Being " creative" has its limits .. I try and for many things, I can make something work out but when it comes to wiring things, forget it . So I will share as much as possible but trying to get others INTO the hobby ?? not going to happen.... CTK

additional comment
seeing the Huff & Puff Garden RR a few years ago was nice ... BUT when you have this ladies monetary wherewithall, she does not have to worry about buying stuff, getting things done and making this look fantastic.... BUT- my question - she is in a BUSINESS- is this free advertising and a tax write-off ???
