Ride the rails with the Medford Railroad Park on its 30th anniversary. "And we opened up the park free of charge. This is our 30th year and it's still free of charge."

Overview | "Each year, there's always something that has been added or refurbished or expanded," Johnson says. The Southwest Oregon Large Scale Trains club is building a sprawling garden layout with mountains, towns and live plantings. Over by a collection of old tools and a salvaged railroad building stands a full-size, 1925 locomotive waiting to breathe steam again. Link to Southwest Oregon Large Scale Trains website. |

Kudos to the courageous and far sighted folk who worked out the deal to have this rr museum space for perpetuity. Apparently, the only cost to the city of Medford was some vacant park land. All the displays and improvements were made by volunteers from the railroad history and modelling community. It is great to know that there efforts will not be subject to being closed down and lost in the future. Perhaps NMRA and the NRHS societies can provide national leadership to help make similar projects possible in every community. |
