Overview

This year is the third year for the Railway Garden Exhibit at Fernwood. The 50-by-50-foot, four-train display has a theme of "Roadside Attractions."

The miniatures represent the time in American history when roads were widened and eye-catching buildings began popping up along the new highways, says Fernwood's Special Project Manager Jan Ferris.

"It was just at the time the highways were being built across the United States, in the 1920s and '30s, that these unusual buildings were being built to get folks to stop," Ferris says.
