Railway tracks provide an excellent subject with which to practice using leading lines in photography. These photographs have largely managed to do that, many in an eye-popping way.

Overview

Here are 36 photos that use railroad tracks as their subject. Enjoyable to look at as art and imagine. I did have a problem with some of the photos loading. Just right click them and "reload image" or "show image" depending on what browser you use.

Here is my favorite: "Move the Pole?"

Interesting pictures
Thanks for posting these. Each is interesting. The guard rails in the through truss bridge look farther from the running rails than I would have expected. And in one photo, there are two blue-green "pipes" running between the rails. I don't remember seeing that done before.

guard rails
Bill, the guard rails on bridges typically are far from the running rails. They are to hold the car on the ties, and keep it from hitting the bridge, if it derails. So for the guard rail to ride on the inside of a derailed wheel, while the other wheel, on the same axle, is outside of the running rail the guard rails cannot be too close to the running rails. As for the pipes between rails, yea, that there doesn't seam like a safe idea to me.

Thanks Peter for posting. There are many interesting pictures on that site.

pictures including rr tracks
Those are mind stretchers. Now I want to be more observant for such shots. I need to look closer at my model railroads for opportune pictures such as those also.

Thanks Peter for this link.
