The Southeast Garden Railroad Show (Sorry: this link is no longer available from source. - www.segrs.com) is shaping up to be just like a small convention. The Show will be held at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center less than one mile off exit #333 on I-75 in Dalton, Georgia. In the main hall there is a great line up of dealers, manufacturers, and garden railroad clubs running their trains.

Print your LSOL.com badge for an exclusive discount on admission. This is "real" discount right off your admission, no product purchases are required.

The Manufacturers
If you have not heard, Lewis Polk of Aristo-Craft Trains will be demonstrating the brand new Train Engineer Revolution at the LSOL.com booth. At the LSOL.com booth they will also be showing the full Revolution seminar that was video taped in High-Def at the East Coast Show.

It will run continuously at the show. So stop by any time and watch a detailed video explanation of this exciting new revolution in Large Scale Remote Control.

Accucraft will be there to display their latest brass offerings, as well as others showing the items that you just want to touch before you buy.

The Dealers
St. Aubins, RLD Hobbies, Star Hobbies, G-Scale Junction and others will be selling all the favorite goodies. Make sure you get there when the doors open. There will be bargains of all kinds on rolling stock, track, people, power supplies and more. There is even a dealer with some Thomas the Tank items for sale to satisfy the kids or grand kids. There are over 30 vendors there; some are sure to offer that special something you are looking for.

The Clubs and Events
The show will feature garden railroad clubs with operating displays. The Emerald Coast Garden Railway Club will join with the Florida Garden Railway Society Tampa Division to set up a display with LOTS of track and trains running.

There is always something on this layout to interest those from 1 to 101! The Georgia Garden Railway Society will show what you might set up in your backyard and will also offer a live steam track as part of their exhibit. The Mesa Grande Modular group will show what a club can do with a series of modules. Finally, Mark Furhman will set up a well detailed layout that represents rural Tennessee. A ride on train will be on hand to offer free train rides to kids on Saturday, May 2.

The Clinics
Besides the video clinic on the TE Revolution there will be "live" clinics offered by such noted garden railroad specialists as Buddy Richard, Mark Furhman, Dave Cummings, Bob Kelly, and others on such topics as matching USA Passenger Cars with Aristo, building styrene large steam locos, building with varied materials, a survey of power options, Airwire, and building a gold fish tank car.

The Banquet
The Georgia Garden Railway Society will offer a banquet on Friday night with speaker Donald Nute telling about surviving steam locos in the US.

The Tours
The Georgia Garden Railway Society will offer self guided layout tours on Sunday, May 3, so make plans to stay over AFTER the show and take the tour. The Mole Valley Railroad featured in December 2007 Garden Railway's magazine is on the tour as is a public garden railroad, a Colorado narrow gauge line, two super detailed indoor lines, and a well landscaped garden with excellent trains will be available for your enjoyment.

Before or After the Show
Tourist trains in the area include the Tennessee Valley Railroad, (they are hosting Thomas The Tank Engine the same weekend), offers rides in the 2-8-0 steam loco to railfans, The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History features the Civil War loco 'General' and a special feature on the Glover Locomotive Works, and the Tunnel Hill Historical Society will offer tours through the pre-Civil War tunnel during and after the show. Other attractions are Aquariums in Atlanta and Chattanooga, Civil War Battlefields at Chickamauga and Kennesaw (and one only yards from the show site), and the new TELLUS science museum at Cartersville. Six Flags, Stone Mountain, Rock City, and Ruby Falls offer family friendly entertainment.

Yes, the Southeast Garden Railroad Show is more than just a train show, it is a MINI-CONVENTION!

Southeast Garden Railroad Show
Due to limits on vacation time we wil not be attending the show in Dalton. We attended the York show and used up our vacation time. I hope the show is a great success and is attended by many vendors and visitors. We need this venue in the southeast as we have such limited model railroad resources compared to the northeast. Anything that is as much fun as model railroading and especially garden railroading needs to be spread around like mayonaise on a ham sandwich. Best of luck to the show organizers and vendors.

The SEGRS
Hi Ted,

Nice to see you, IF not in person. Unfortunately, we will not be attending this year. (It will be the first one we have missed!) Do hope all of you have a wonderful time and enjoy all of the great train sites in the area. I can assure you any of the layouts that are open on Sunday will be a joy, as most were open for the LGB convention in 2002.

Really sorry to not be able to see all of our old friends from this site and ones we met from the GGRS. And please say a special "HI" to Dave Cummings. He used to be in our area and we really miss him. Congratulations David Roberts for pulling this off. Much success for this show and hopefully others in the future...
