In the last few years I have been slowly moving from the world of working stiff to the world of retirement. For me that world is filled with trains, all kinds of them. Right now I am the president (volunteer position) of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. It is the largest and finest exhibit of what can be done in the world of model railroads and toy trains. Please visit it when you come to San Diego. You will be delighted! If you can't visit in person try the web site, . I started playing with trains when I got a Lionel set for Christmas when I was 10. It was my favorite toy for about four years, but then came high school, cars, girls, college, and several careers (ministerial student, Naval Officer, computer programmer, system engineer). When I was about 35 my wife and I were doing some window shopping before Christmas. An N-Scale train was running on a loop track in a store window. This triggered memories of my boyhood train experience and they were the subject of conversation for awhile. Then quite to my surprise that N-scale train appeared under the tree. I just fell head over heals back into model railroading. After many years in N-Scale I got interested in large scale and built the Gopher Canyon Line in 1992. See the December 1997 Issue of Garden Railways for the cover and feature article on the GCL. My wife Jan does the gardening and I do the trains. It is a very good match. Trains is favorite magazine and I try to keep up with what is happening in that most interesting industry. Top of Page
