Scot Osterweil is a long-time model railroader, working in HO scale for over 20 years, and large scale for the last 10. The plan for his HO scale Highland Terminal timesaver layout has been posted on-line for many years. Nowadays his HO activity revolves around the Bay State Society of Model Engineers, a Boston club of which he is the current president.
While he models post-war American railroading in HO, his large-scale layout, the Chemin de Fer du Rhune, is modeled on French meter gauge, ca. 1920. It occupies a very narrow urban garden. A photo of it is featured in the February, 2003 Garden Railways and the current LGB catalogue.
Professionally, Scot designs computer games. His most recent game is Switchback, a suite of railroad switching puzzles for the Palm OS. He is also the designer of the Zoombinis series of award-winning educational games. A graduate of Yale College with a degree in Theater Studies, he now resides in Brookline, MA. with his wife and two sons.
