Author  Bio Ron Simpson, owner of the Copper Rail Depot in the south central community of Copper Center, is also the author of the historic novel "Legacy of the Chief."

Ron Simpson, owner of the Copper Rail Depot in the south central community of Copper Center, is also the author of the historic novel "Legacy of the Chief."

He self-published the 800 page book, which contains 250 historic maps and photos. The book views the CRNW Railway from the perspective of the Native people of the time. Ron owned and operated a coin-operated vending business from 1977 until 1996 which included locations throughout much of interior Alaska's road system. He is a member of the Chickaloon tribe. Ron graduated from Ketchikan High in 1968 and received a degree in political science from Oregon State University under an ROTC scholarship in 1972.
