I started model railroading in the late 1940's with an American Flyer train set that I bought with $25 that I got for Christmas.  Little did I know at that time, what it would all lead to.

In my middle age, I began modeling again, this time in HO. I had quite an elaborate layout, but then moved into an apartment, where I could no longer set up the layout.

In 1998 I moved back into a house with basement and yard and thought I would set up the HO scale railroad again. To my dismay, my eyes were not as good as they used to be so I got a Bachman Starter set and set it up on ping-pong table.

I became involved with eBay and that was the beginnings of my garden railroad in 1999. In 2002 I visited the LGB factory in Nurnberg, Germany and became a LGB enthusiast. I have gradually converted most of my layout over to LGB.

I operate on approxiamtely 650 feet of track, controlling 8-9 trains with MTS controls and 19 turnouts. Most of my buildings are Piko and Pola kits, but my grandson and I are in the process of scratchbuilding a 5 stall roundhouse, built with hardi-backer board, green treated lumber, and blue foam.

The railroad is a unending project, but certainly enjoyable
