(VIDEO) Craig Weaver's Army Train Public Display
Dec 8, 2010

By Jon DeKeles
Author  Bio
Craig Weaver has a great public display that he takes around to train shows to get the public interested in Large Scale Trains. It used to be just a Circus Display. With a lot of hard work by him and his wife they have allowed it to play two roles. It was only a Circus Train and now it can be an Army Train display as well.

Come check out this video as we take a look at Craig's tribute to the Armed Forces. Listen to him as he explains all about this great example of what can be done to bring Large Scale Trains to the people. Get an inside look at one of the storage units that he used to transport this portable layout, as well has the dozens of vehicles on this railroad. Do you know where Craig keeps his Armies? Of course, in his sleevies.

Army Train
Jon,

Terrific! As a US Army Vet and having my platoon's radars moved by rail from Ft Bliss TX to South Carolina for a Germany deployment, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Is Craig a veteran also?

Army Trains
I too have an Army train that is always a hit when I brought it out. It ran for a couple of years at the Los Angeles Fairplex layout, where the operations crews always bugged me to bring it out for them to run. It was photographed in the "Garden Railways. my train was pulled bt an Aristo 2-6-6-2 it looks great.

I started mine when I watched military vehicles being trained to California ports to be shipped to the Gulf. It reminded me of old WWII news reels showing train loads of equipment being shipped to every corner of the world. The USA was called the "Arsenal of Democracy" then, and it still is.

I hope this train serves as a tribute to all those who have served and those who worked to give them the tools they needed.

Graig's Army Train
I always enjoy seeing what Craig has at the ECLSTS and have been impressed with his Circus trains in past years.

His Army train at the show this past September certainly got a lot of attention. It was fun to check out all of the scale military equipment on the cars. He has done an excellent job and the video shows off his work very well.

Craig's display is just another good reason to come to the ECLSTS. He does great work.
