Plant Misc NotesThe term "weed" is by no accident. It can be invasive and could be hard to contain in a specific area.

Be careful what you wish for!
This lovely specimen, A.K.A. "Snow on the Mountain", is one of the most persistent agressors I've ever met. Like Tom says, it's very invasive. Further, it spreads by root, and the roots go deep so the usual lawn edging materials don't work. It's hard to contain and harder still to kill. I don't have it in my railway garden, but it has taken over other parts of the yard and can only be removed by digging up every bit of the roots. Roundup doesn't seem to work very well on it. Yes, it's beautiful in its place, but once established, be prepared to live with it for a long time! Here in hot, dry Colorado, it becomes pretty shabby looking by mid-July, but if you strip it off, it will regrow and look decent until the first hard frost puts it down.

Ironically, local nurseries sell starts for $4-5 per quart container. I have 100's of $ worth I'd be happy to send home with someone else for free!

CAN BE invasive ??? try it ISSSSSS INVASIVE ... Once its in you will NEVER get rid of the underground rhyzomes... I KNOW there are MANY other ground covers that will be 10,000 times more preferable. If you have an area that is a million miles from anything else, then you might use it but otherwise ??? I would send you ALL I can - FREE SHIPPING !!! Carl Kokes

Snow on the Montain
I have plenty and I agree it is very hard to stop from spreading everywhere.

Bishop's "WEED"
Hey folks. I try to post the good, the bad, and the ugly. I figure it is just as useful to warn folks about the bad as well as promote the good.

Tom: meant no offense - but I dont think that most people do their homework on some things when it comes to the " garden" part of the railroading . I know it has taken ME a long to recognize a weed from a rose - but now that I am a Master Gardener, I can.

My recommendation to all garden railroaders - do the homework on both sides - trains as well as plantings.
