Small deciduous tree that would be a good choice for a "bonsai" plant. With careful annual pruning it can be kept to a realistic looking tree for a garden train setting.

VERY slow grower so it can be kept to a proper scale size tree.

Many cultivars with variety of growth characteristics.

Scale size shade tree with pruning.

Some of the larger cultivars can be used for a small shade tree if you are willing to wait on its slow growth rate.

* Mature size depends on the particular cultivar.

Will thrive in moist yet well drained soil particularly soils high in organic matter such as compost or peat moss. If grown in a container it can be moved into an area with winter temperatures between 32 degrees F and 20 degrees F for winter protection.
