If you remember last year I found some great figures at our local Lowes. These were the Coca-Cola figures in the Town Square collection. They are made by a company called The Cavanagh Group.
This year when I went back I found there were some great figures to choose from. Remember, the accessories are in a working scale, but the buildings are much too small to be used. Interesting note: The 2000 and 2001 figures are selling for more on the Internet than I bought them for over the last two years. So if you see something you like, get it now and not later. I had the opportunity to speak by phone with John Cavanaugh the President of Cavanagh Group International. Each year they introduce new buildings and with these buildings they introduce the matching accessories that we can use on our railroads. John told me that the Coca-Cola graphic designs are taken directly out of the archives of the Coca-Cola Corporation. John gave me advance information on some of the pieces that they will introduce in next year's line. They will introduce in 2003 a radio station with the call signs KCOK. They will have accessories such as benches which will promote the radio station. They will also have a Drive-In Movie as well as an arcade for next year. So look for accessories to match these new buildings. John says that they are well aware that the size of their accessories are much larger than the buildings that they produce for the Town Square series. If they were to make the people small enough to fit through the doors of their buildings they would be too small and lack any detail. This of course is to our benefit in the large-scale train hobby. John indicated that their accessories will be staying the larger size, which is good news for us.

These figures are very detailed and well painted. The picture here is with a 1:24 ScaleCard. These figures are on a little stand, so he is just a little shorter than you see here.

The prices listed here are the retail prices. You can find these items on sale around the Internet as well as in-person with a visit to Lowes. Again you must play the selection vs. discount price game as Christmas gets closer.
