The eleventh East Coast Large Scale Train Show (ECLSTS) got underway Frida, but the main show for LSOL.com members was the dinner at Hoss’s restaurant starting at 6:30 Thursday evening. The party was in full swing shortly after 6:00 since LSOL.com members always arrive early for food.

After a few opening remarks by Jon, orders were place for the entrees and the gang made a mad rush to the salad, soup and bread bar.

The tables filled early and members were able to renew old acquaintances and make new friends. Several of the Large Scale clubs were there in large numbers.

Last year it was noted that many of the members were missing most of their hair and that caused some problems with reflection of the flash for picture taking, so this year many of the members wore hats to alleviate the problem and J.D. passed out special hats to those who needed them but were not wearing them.

Jon thanked some of the members for their support and hard work over the last year and rewarded J. D. Miller for his contributions with a hat to replace the one he has worn traditionally to all shows. Jon named J.D. the Grand Pubba of LSOL.com and presented him with the new hat to show his status.

As Jo Anne and I took pictures the drawing was held for prizes. The first prize was the first of the ECLSTS show locomotives and the second prize was one of the Eaglewings metal buildings. Several of the LSOL.com small trucks and a couple figures on motorcycles were then given away.

After the drawing, a few members lingered to talk to each other, but most of us left quickly for the short drive to our hotels and a good night sleep. All of us had wonderful dreams about the great things we would find to buy as the show opened on Friday morning at 9:00.

Yes, we sure did have a fun time. And Bill Lott is still without hair, not to mention many others. But we had that "covered."

ECLSTS LSOL Dinner
We from CNYLSRS had a great time at the dinner. Look forward to do it again next year. Thanks a lot Hoss's and LSOL.

Names?
You do such a wonderful job Noel, on your recordings of these shows and dinners. My only wish would be that occasionally YOU would add some names of the people. I could recognize the "Grand Pubba" by his former hat, and Glenn, only because his wife had been shown on the forum. Besides the owners (and even Bryan has grown so), it is difficult to distinguish the others. Elaine

Elaine,

The reason I don't put names with the photos is that to do that would take a lot of time each time I took a picture to be sure I collected the names in a way that I could correlate the names with the photos.

I spend about four or more hours each day taking photos and then spend time in the booth talking with people. I write the articles at night.

If people see themselves in the pictures and would like to identify themselves for all of us, please use this comment format to do it. Just tell us the page number and the photo number on that page and who you are.

Next time we take a picture of the LSOL.com members in front of the booth, we will try to get names to go with the group picture.

If someone has an easier way to do that, just speak up.

Pictures-Got the answer
Noel,

Try this to identify the folks in the pictures you take.

Get some of those boards that police departments use when taking MUG SHOOTS. Have the folks put their name on the board, hold the board up against their chests, and take the picture.

You need an assistant to carry the boards and the box that has those little white plastic letters, but then at least folks will be able to put a name to the face.

Glenn H., Joe F., Karen D. and a few more of us should be right at home having our pictures taken that way!!!!!

JD,

I like your idea. I think I will go on the internet and see if I can find some of those boards and letters. I can also convert all of my pictures to black and white so they will look more like the mug shots.

Perhaps you can carry the letters and boards for me. You are pretty good at recognizing the people at the show, so you could make the boards up as people come into the range of my camera.

Truthfully, I wish there was a way to get the names easily so that they could be included in the articles.
